MGUVV to Organize Workshop and Tree Plantation Drive on World Environment Day
Durg, June 4, 2026: Mahatma Gandhi University of Horticulture and Forestry (MGUVV), Durg, will organize a one-day workshop and tree plantation programme on the theme “Khet Bachao Abhiyaan” on June 5, 2026, at the College of Horticulture and Research Station, Sankra-Patan, to mark World Environment Day.
The programme will be attended by the Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture, Government of Chhattisgarh, Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Durg Lok Sabha Constituency, senior officials of the Agriculture & Horticulture Department, scientists, farmers, students and representatives from various organizations.
The event will commence with a tree plantation drive and inspection of agricultural and horticultural exhibitions, followed by the inaugural ceremony comprising lamp lighting, Vande Mataram and the welcome address. The programme aims to promote environmental conservation, sustainable agriculture, and soil health management.
On this occasion, the University will release its University Anthem, an AI-based Web Portal, a compilation of research and extension activities undertaken during the last two years, the University Vision-2047 document and the University Newsletter. Agricultural inputs will also be distributed to farmers.
The technical session will focus on the “Khet Bachao Abhiyaan” and include live demonstrations on soil testing, bio-fertilizer enrichment, and natural farming practices such as Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Neemastra, Brahmastra and Ghan Jeevamrit. Experts will also provide practical training on integrated pest and disease management in fruits and vegetables.
The University administration has appealed to farmers, students, and stakeholders associated with the agriculture sector to participate in large numbers. The programme is expected to serve as an important platform for promoting eco-friendly farming practices and strengthening efforts toward environmental sustainability and agricultural resilience.
